steady and joyful: August 15th, 2011 | Tapas: The Fire Within »
Life has so many twists and turns… We are always trying to find a balance. Sometimes we get scared to move forward. And other times we progress and we master the things in our lives. It’s good to have goals, but the ego can creep in and consume us.
So instead of wondering why your Natarajasana isn’t as beautiful as someone elses, think about the consistency of your practice. Think about the things you do everyday to better yourself. Think about the effort on your mat, and allow the subtle reminder to come at ease. You’re not scrunching your face and looking around the room. You’re focused, and the discipline you cultivate will not only be in your practice, but in your daily life.
Tapas’ modern translation is “fiery discipline.” It’s our austerity. It’s our drive. We make goals for a reason. It’s necessary to have something to strive for. Using the fire within to burn obstacles that are holding us from our connection to the universe.
